Whilst visiting the Isle of Harris and walking on the various stunning beaches, i photographed the sand formations, shells, water and seaweed in detail and at close range.
I have used these photographs to make a series of abstract artworks' from the beautiful part of Scotland.
Horgabost sands comprises of textures and acrylics as well as original shells etc from the beach. Finished with overlay of tinted resin.
Housed in a white wood floating frame. The canvas is 40cm x 40cm: total size with frame is 45cm x 45cm x 5cm deep. Fairly heavy piece of art.
Part of the "Harris Sands collection".
Whilst visiting the Isle of Harris, and took detailed and close-up photographs of the various beaches we walked on.
I then turned these into abstract artworks.
Luskentyre beach had an incredible sand formation caused by the tides, The lines and shapes the sand formed were very unique, and were highlighted by the beautiful waters found in this part of Scotland.
Textured paint was used to replicate the sand formations. This took quite a while to achieve as i wanted the raised sections to sit above the water.
Once the shapes and feel were correct, the sand was painted, and clear and coloured resin layered on top.
Housed in a white wood box frame. 50cm x 50cm x 4cm deep.
